Selected Projects
- Strategic Research on Service-Oriented Systems
Founding member of the strategic research group on Service-Oriented Systems at the FZI - SLA@SOI
European research project focusing on the management of Service-level Agreements (SLAs) and Quality-of Service (QoS) guarantees in virtualized infrastructures. (WP lead of the open Source demonstrator) - Palladio Simulator
Architecture-level modelling and performance prediction tool for component-based systems. Extending the tool with support of event-based interactions and leading the development of graphical editors. - Performance Preductions with Palladio
Industrial as well as academic tutorials and workshops on the applications of Palladio for Performance predictions. - MetASys
Industrial Project developing a method for requirements specification and modelling for large-scal naval systems - TIME - Traffic Monitoring System
Cooperation project with the University of Cambridge applying model-based performance prediciton to a distributed traffic monitoring system. - Performance Modeling of Storage Virtualization
Project of the University of Karlsruhe with IBM Deutschland Research and Development GmbH - Workload-aware performance monitoring
Cooperation project with the 1&1 Internet AG applying the Palladio approach to the 1&1 mail system.
Teaching
I have been involved in the "Softwaretechnik 2" (software engineering 2) lecture (WS 1011 and WS 1112) responsible for real-time design patterns. I organized the seminar Software Certification and supervised several students in several seminars and practical courses.
Supervised Diploma Thesis as first Advisor:
- Nikolaus Huber. Performance Modeling of Storage Virtualization. Diploma thesis, Universität Karlsruhe (TH), Karlsruhe, Germany, April 2009. Awarded with Best Diploma Thesis Prize (N. Huber) from GFFT e.V. (Gemeinnützigen Gesellschaft zur Förderung des Forschungstransfers e.V.)
- Stefan Becker, Performance-Modellierung des 1&1 Mail-Systems, Diploma thesis, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany, March 2011
- Benjamin Klatt, Modelling and prediction of event-based communication in component-based architectures Diploma thesis, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany, May 2011. Awarded with Best Diploma Thesis prize in the category “Foundations of the Discipline” from ObjektForum Karlsruhe
