RELATE MSTC in Prague

The 3rd RELATE ITN Multi-Skills Training Camp took place at Charles University Prague (Czech Republic) from April 17th to 19th, 2013.

The 3rd Multi-Skills Training Camp (MSTC) of the RELATE network took place in Prague (Czech Republic) from 17 to 19 April 2013, and was hosted by the Charles University Prague, Department of Distributed and Dependable Systems.

Following from the previous RELATE MSTCs, which were successfully held in March 2012 in Karlsruhe, Germany and October 2012 in Thessaloniki, Greece, the third MSTC offered all current RELATE fellows as well as supervisors and advisory board members of the RELATE network to meet again and to exchange new research results and to discuss current challenges to the individual research projects within the three days.

The aim of this 3rd MSTC was to report on the latest progress made by RELATE fellows and the overall network since the last meeting in December 2012. Fellows got further feedback by various supervisors and participated in stimulating talks by invited speakers on key technical areas and complementary subjects, such as communication and how to become a good researcher.

Each fellow presented his current work and received feedback from the supervisors and other Marie Curie fellows. In addition, the MSTC included two motivating talks by invited speakers coming from both academia and industry, which provided the fellows with a further insight into specific technical aspects.

  • Invited talk by J. Tulach (Oracle): Designing API: 20 paradoxes
  • Invited talk by V. Pech (JetBrains): Unleash the processor(s) – prototyping and developing parallel applications
  • RM training session by Manfred Müller-Gransee: Communication – the barcode to success
  • RM training session by Dr Tomas Bures (CUNI): How to become a successful researcher?
